To add inventory to an existing license plate

Article07/10/20242 min read

You can place inventory on any existing license plate number, instead of creating a new license plate. If you are not allowed to store multiple items and/or multiple lots on an existing license plate as set up in the license plating setup page, by having one or both toggles disabled, the user is not allowed to post multiple items and/or multiple lots to a license plate number that already have other items and/or lot numbers stored on it. Then, you must create a new license plate number.

If you select a License Plate No. that already holds inventory, you cannot change the Bin Code on the document line to another bin code than the one on which the inventory has been stored. When registering/posting the inbound transaction, it is again checked whether the location and bin code on the document line match those of the selected license plate. If this is not the case, the user will see an error since it’s not possible to store one license plate in multiple bins/locations at one time.

Note
  • When the Multiple Lots Allowed toggle is turned off on the License Plating Setup page, the system doesn’t allow the storage of multiple lots within the same license plate.
  • Tunring off the Multiple Items Allowed toggle on the License Plating Setup page restricts storing multiple items within a single license plate.
  • You cannot post or register a document with different unit of measure for the same item on a single license plate.
  • On the Item Tracking Line page, entering a non-existent License Plate Number manually triggers an error.
