Create new LP number for existing item tracking line

When one or more lot numbers already have been assigned in the item tracking lines with their respective quantities, you can split the item tracking line that is currently, selected without assigning a new lot number, by executing the function Create License Plates.

1. Create a new Purchase Order for a vendor.
2. Select an item and a location that both require license plate tracking.
3. In the Bin Code field, select the relevant bin.
4. Fill in the quantity that needs to be received.
5. On the Lines FastTab, select Lines > Item Tracking Lines.
6. On the Item Tracking Lines page, enter the required values in the Lot Number and Quantity fields.
7. On the action bar, select Actions > Functions > Create License Plates to assign one or more new license plate numbers for the quantity of the selected line.
8. On the Create License Plates page, in the Create License Plates For field select Selected line.
   This option specifies that new license plates should be created for the quantity of the selected item tracking line.
9. In this case, the Quantity field specifies the quantity of the selected item tracking line (expressed in the unit of measure code as selected on the document line).
10. The Shipping Container Code, Quantity per License Plate and No. of License Plates fields function similarly to the process described in To create new Item Tracking Lines with new LP number topic.
11. Click OK.
    The action creates one or more unique license plate numbers on the Item Tracking Lines page depending on the previously selected value in the Number of License Plates field. The number series assigned in the License Plate Nos. field on the License Plating Setup page is used for creating new license plate numbers.

When creating new license plate numbers, the selected item tracking line is divided according to the calculated number of license plates instead of assigning a single new lot number. The Quantity (Base) field in the divided item tracking lines are populated with the previously selected value from the Quantity Per License Plate field.

12. Click Close to save the changes made to the item tracking line. When the item tracking lines page is closed, a new license plate card is created. On the header, the license plate number is filled in, together with the selected Shipping Container Code. Since the license plate numbers don’t contain any inventory (yet), the Empty toggle will be turned on.
