Register co-products as input

During production processes, co-products are often produced alongside the main output item.

You can view and register input components for both the main items and any associated co-products. This functionality ensures accurate tracking of materials consumed across production orders.

If the production of an output item also involves the generation of co-product(s), these co-product items can be configured within the Aptean Process Manufacturing extension.

Follow the steps below to register the input for co-products.

  1. Open the Shop Floor Production page.
  2. On the Work Centers page, select the appropriate work center.
  3. On the Production Orders list page, the system generates entries for the main item and any associated co-products. However, the visibility of co-products as separate entries depends on their routing configuration.

    • If the routing number on the co-product line is filled, the co-product will have a separate entry on the Production Orders list page.
    • If the Routing No. field is blank, only the main item is displayed on the Production Orders list page, but the consumption and output of the co-product can still be accessed from the main item.

Then, select the relevant production order.

  4. Select the Input tile.
If the routing number on the co-product line is filled, only the components for the co-product will appear with the co-product entry, and only the components for the main item will appear with the main item entry.
If the Routing No. field is blank, the components for the co-product will appear along with the main item’s components, but they will be associated with the co-product.
The system displays a list of all components based on this routing configuration.

When an unplanned input item is consumed for a co-product using the + ALTERNATIVE button, the system adds it beneath the corresponding co-product line.
  5. Select the line item to register the input.
For each input line, record the actual consumption.
  6. Enter the required details on the Register Input page.
  7. Save the input registration.
For more information on registering the input, see Register input.

Ensure the Routing No. field on the Released Production Order page has a defined value. If a routing line is defined for a co-product, the system considers it as a separate item rather than a co-product. In such cases, the Shop Floor Production page represents each output line as an individual production order entry.

Once consumption is registered, all input items, including those for co-products, are recorded.
