Production BOMs
Several raw materials and packaging items are used in the end product BOM. To calculate the raw materials, packaging materials, ingredients, allergens, nutritional values, vitamins and minerals, and some dietary information for a semi-product or an end product, you need the bill of material for the semi-products and end product.
A bill of material registers the raw materials and packaging items used and their quantities required to produce a semi-product or an end product.
On the production BOM card, create a BOM for the end product or the semi-product with the necessary BOM line items/child BOMs. The BOM lines are based on the raw materials and the semi-products included in the end product and the packaging material used to pack the product.
You can also include a phantom BOM in the production BOM for the product specification calculation. With a phantom BOM, it's not necessary to have for each production BOM an item.
A product specification is always attached to an item card, and it is needed to calculate the product specification.
Calculating the product specification of an end product or a semi-product always searches for the BOM that is attached to the item card from the related product specification.
On the item card, link each item to the raw material specification template and the child BOM to the semi-product specification template.
Link the end product item to the end product specification template and associate it with the end product BOM you created.
