Product Specification End Product
The end product specification is calculated automatically using the underlying product specifications for raw materials and packaging items based on the associated production BOM.
The following are calculated in the end product specification: ingredients, ingredient groups, allergens, nutritional values, dietary information, vitamins, and minerals.
Add the other information manually.
When the application calculates the end product specification, the underlying product specifications for the semi-products are also calculated automatically, including the recycled material % of the packaging product specification.
The steps to create an end product specification is similar to creating the raw material specification. Refer to the Product Specification Raw Material topic for complete information on creating an end product specification.
Create a product specification for an end product
- Select the Search icon
, enter Product Specifications End Products and then choose the related link.
The Product Specifications End Products list page opens. - Select New.
The Product Specification End Product card page opens. - In the Item No. field, select the end product item number for which you want to create the product specification. The item list shows only those items that are linked to the template with specification class End Product.
- On the Product Specification Lines FastTab, enter the information in the product specification field or group. These fields and groups are set up on the Product Specification Template card page, and the template is linked to the item.
Refer to the Product Specification Raw Material card page for more details.
- In the Status field, select the Certified status to activate the product specification.
- Select the Calculate Food Declaration function in the action bar.
- The function calculates the quantity and the percentage presence of the ingredients, ingredient groups, additives, allergens, nutritional values, dietary information, vitamins, and minerals in the end product based on the items in the production BOM and their related product specifications (raw materials, packaging items, or semi-finished product).
-
In the Specification Template Code field, select a template to filter product specification lines before executing the Refresh Lines action.
The Change Status action enables you to change the status of selected specification lines. You can select any of the following status options:
- New
- Released
- Under Development
- Close
Note that the product specification lines are not copied from the raw material specification.
View the ingredient and the additive calculation for the end product on the Product Specification Ingredients page (select Related > Food > Ingredients on the action bar).
The Manual % field shows the value zero; however, you can change the value if necessary.
The Calculated % field shows the ingredient or additive percentage present in the end product based on the end product specification calculation.
The other settings like QUID, printing the E Number in the declaration, or the countries of origin are copied from the raw material specification. However, you can always change these selections.
Make sure to change the status of the product specification to New or Under Development to edit the product specification.
- On the action bar, select Related > Food to view the calculations of the Allergens, Nutritional Values, and Clitravi Values in the end product.
- Select Related > Food > Materials to view the packaging material calculations for the end product based on the underlying product specification packaging.
- Select Related > Food > Packaging to view the packaging item used for the end product. The packaging items are initially copied from the underlying BOM.
- Select Related > Item > Production BOM Tree to view the BOM tree structure of the end product.
This tree displays the BOM in a product structure from the highest level to the lowest level. It shows the BOM number, BOM status, product specification, and product specification status, whether certified or not, for all the items.
You can modify the Scrap % field value on the BOM tree page for the items from the production or assembly order.
Refer to the Product Specification Raw Material topic for information on Actions > Functions menu tasks and to print the report.
Refer to the Set up label information topic to create label strings for ingredients and allergens in the product specification. You can use the label strings when the Labelling extension is installed.
When executing the calculate report for the product specification, you can choose whether to include or exclude attributes from all sub-levels.
- When the Exclude Attributes from Sub-level toggle is turned off, all attributes from all sub-levels are copied to the product specification.
- When the Exclude Attributes from Sub-level toggle is turned on, attributes from sub-levels are not copied to the product specification.
