Introduction

With the Aptean Production Planning (PPL) extension, you can manage make-to-order items effectively and receive alerts when action is needed due to changes in production and sales orders. As sales orders fluctuate, maintaining an accurate production schedule can be challenging. This extension aligns sales and production orders, providing useful functions and insights to inform you when to follow up on changes, ensuring the correct items and quantities are produced on time.

With this extension, you can confirm if the promised sales quantity or shipment date can be met by production. If a sales line has been planned for a production order and the sales or production order line is changed, Business Central will prompt a confirmation message so you can exercise caution when changing the sales or production order line. The confirmation is given when a production order line is reserved for a sales order line in the following situations:

• Changing the quantity on the sales order line
• Changing the shipment date on the sales order line
• Deleting the sales order
• Changing the quantity on the production order line
• Deleting the production order (line)
• Changing the status of the production order to finished

The Order Commitment page gives insight into which sales order lines still needs to be planned for production. It provides information about how many items on the sales order line have not yet been shipped and how many items are already reserved. This information is used to calculate the required quantity, which indicates how many items still must be planned for production and you are is notified when there is available inventory that can be reserved for the sales order. The page also provides the option to directly create a production order so that the open demand from the sales order can be met. This will create an order commitment that allows the user to reserve production output inventory for the specific sales order.
