Scan GS1 AI barcodes
To track both lot-tracked and license plate-tracked items during the warehouse put-away process using GS1 AI barcode scanning, follow these steps:
- Open the Put-Away screen.
- Scan the barcode for the lot-tracked item.
The system updates the scanned quantity in the Qty. Put-away field.
The system will convert to the relevant UOM if the scanned quantity is in KG UOM.
The system completes the put-away for the lot-tracked item once all the items are scanned.
For license plate tracked items,
- Scan the barcode for the license plate tracked item.
The system updates the scanned quantity in the Qty. Put-away field.
If an incorrect UOM is scanned, the system displays an error. - Complete the scanning process by scanning the final barcode.
- You can only modify the quantity during the put-away process.
- After scanning a bin, all related information (for example, license plate, lot number, quantity) is included in a single barcode.
- When a license plate corresponds to a single line, the system automatically processes the full quantity. However, if the license plate is associated with multiple items or lots, the system will prompt for additional details and enable single barcode scanning for each specific item and lot.
Parse barcode during put-away based on Business Central configuration
To parse a user-defined barcode configured on the Mobile Barcode Setup page during item scanning, follow these steps:
- Open the Put-Away screen.
- Scan the barcode.
The scanned barcode will be parsed and split, with its values mapped according to the Mobile Barcode Setup page settings. For more information, see Mobile barcode formats.
The system automatically parses the barcode based on its predefined structure on the Mobile Barcode Setup page, such as item number, vendor lot number, expiration date, and handled quantity.
The system displays an error if the barcode does not include license plate number.
Parse GS1-128 barcode in mobile warehouse put-away
The GS1-128 barcode parsing in the warehouse put-away process enables accurate identification and management of item quantities based on specific Application Identifiers (AIs).
- Open the Mobile Profile Setup page.
- In the Page field, select PUTAWAY.
- For the Application Identifier Quantity Sequence description, in the Value field, enter the sequence of AIs that should be considered while scanning barcodes for quantity.
- You can enter any combination of the following AI codes: 37, 31, 32, 33, 34. The system will display an error if an invalid AI code is entered.
- Use semi-colons (;) to separate multiple codes.
- Default setups are automatically applied for new users, but existing users must review and update their configurations on the Mobile Profile Setup page in Business Central.
The system parses 31, 32, 3200, and 3201 AI codes during warehouse put-away for GS1 barcode scanning.
Ensure that the following configurations are made in Business Central.
-
On the Mobile Setup page, specify the required value in the GS1 AI (31 and 33) KG UoM Code and GS1 AI (32 and 34) LBS UoM Code fields.
-
On the Mobile Profile Setup page, the Page field is set as PUTAWAY.
-
The Application Identifier Quantity Sequence description is set as 37; 31; 32.
For more information, see Parse GS1 barcode at receipt.
The system ignores the serial number when parsing AI 21 barcodes and processes the correct shipping unit number during the warehouse put-away activity.
Scan GS1-compliant barcodes
You can scan GS1-compliant barcodes containing Global Location Number (GLN) information to automatically populate the traceability source reference field during warehouse receiving. This eliminates manual entry and strengthens traceability across the inbound logistics process. You can scan the GS1 barcode on the Details screen to automatically capture the traceability source reference.
- Open the Receive screen in the Aptean Mobile Warehouse app.
- Scan the GS1-compliant barcode containing GLN information. For example: (01)01234567890011(10)LOT0001(FNC)(15)270315(37)6(412)9876543210987
The Details screen opens.
Review the populated field values. - Select Accept.
- Post the warehouse receipt.
The system creates posted warehouse receipt entries. - In Business Central, select the Search icon
, enter Lot No. Information List, and then choose the related link.
The Lot No. Information List page opens. - Select the lot number associated with the posted receipt.
The Lot No. Information Card page opens. - On the Lot Origin Details FastTab, verify the Traceability Source Reference field value.
Supported application identifiers
The system recognizes GLN information from the following GS1 Application Identifiers:
| Application Identifier | Description |
|---|---|
| AI 412 | Ship to/Deliver to Global Location Number |
| AI 413 | Ship for/Deliver for Global Location Number |
| AI 414 | Physical Location Global Location Number |
| AI 415 | Invoicing Party Global Location Number |
| AI 416 | Production/Service Location Global Location Number |
| AI 417 | Party to Transaction Global Location Number |
The system applies the following validation rules for GLN values:
- The GLN must be exactly 13 digits in length.
- The GLN must contain only numeric characters.
The GLN can appear at any position within the barcode. The system parses the value regardless of its location in the barcode sequence.
