Set up standard measurements
Before using the Aptean Standard Measurements extension, you need to perform initial setups to ensure the system is configured to handle weight and volume measurements accurately and efficiently.
To do that, follow these steps:
- Select the Search icon
, enter Standard Measurements Setup, and then choose the related link.
The Standard Measurements Setup page opens. - On the action bar, select Unit of Measure Groups.
The Unit of Measure Groups page opens, where you can create and configure a new unit of measure group. For more information, see Unit of measure groups. -
On the Standard Measurements Setup page, on the Weight FastTab, enter the required information in the following fields:
| Field | Description |
| ---------------------------- | -----------------------------------------------------|
|Weight Group Code| Select the unit of measure group code that represents all units of measure used for weight. You cannot delete the unit of measure group record selected in this field.|
|Standard Weight Unit of Measure | Select the unit of measure to be used as the default for all system weight fields unless another unit is specified. This field is editable only when the Weight Group Code field has a value. You can select only a unit of measure configured with the unit of measure group specified in the Weight Group Code field. You cannot delete the unit of measure record selected in this field.|
|Use Item UOM Measures in Document Lines| Turn on this toggle to use the weight and volume field values (including Net Weight, Tare Weight, and Cubage fields) from the item’s unit of measure in document lines, such as sales, purchase, and transfer orders, instead of using the values from the Item Card page. If all the weight field values in the item’s unit of measure are set to 0, the corresponding values from the Item Card page is used instead. Similarly, if the Cubage field value in the item’s unit of measure is set to 0, the corresponding value from the Item Card page is used.
This functionality applies only to new document lines. The existing records will remain unaffected unless the item number on the document line is changed.
When this toggle is turned on, the Automatic Gross Weight toggle on the Standard Measurements Setup page is automatically turned on and becomes non-editable. |
|Automatic Gross Weight |Turn on this toggle to automatically update the Gross Weight field on the Item Card and Item Units of Measure pages when there is a change in the Net Weight or Tare Weight field value.|
|Update Item UOM with Item Change| Turn on this toggle to automatically update the item units of measure lines when specific fields, such as Net Weight, Tare Weight, and Gross Weight, are modified on the Item Card page. The updates apply to the weight-related fields with the base unit of measure on the Item Units of Measure page. Additionally, the item units of measure line for the standard weight unit of measure will have its quantity per unit of measure updated if allowed. If no record exists for the standard weight, one will be created automatically. This synchronization is one-way, meaning changes to the item unit of measure line values will not update the relevant field values on the Item Card page.
This field becomes editable only when the Standard Weight Unit of Measure field has a value.
|Item UOM Weight Rounding Precision| Enter the value for decimal rounding to be applied to the weight fields on the Item Units of Measure page. This works only when the Calculate Weights action is executed and does not affect manually entered values.|
|Update Item UOM with Item Change| Turn on this toggle to restrict modifications to the field values on the Item Unit of Measure page, ensuring the data remains consistent with the corresponding item details on the Item Card page.| -
On the Length FastTab, fill in the fields as follows.
| Field | Description |
| ---------------------------- | -----------------------------------------------------|
|Length Group Code| Select the unit of measure group code that represents all units of measure used for length, width, and height.
You cannot delete the unit of measure group record selected in this field.|
|Standard Length Unit of Measure | Select the unit of measure to be used as the default for all system length, width, and height fields unless another unit is specified. This field is editable only when the Length Group Code field has a value. You can select only a unit of measure configured with the unit of measure group specified in the Length Group Code field.
You cannot delete the unit of measure record selected in this field.|
|Standard Cubage Unit of Measure | Select the unit of measure to be used as the default for all system cubage or volume fields unless another unit is specified. This field is editable only when the Length Group Code field has a value. You can select only a unit of measure configured with the unit of measure group specified in the Length Group Code field.
The system uses this value to represent the total volume, even if the dimensions such as length, width, and height are entered in different units of measure.
For example, the cubage value for the item’s unit of measure might be represented in feet, even though the individual length, width, and height fields are entered in inches.
You cannot delete the unit of measure record selected in this field.|
