Item UOM Information FactBox

Standard Measurements  •  Article  •  7/2/2025  •

The Item UOM Information FactBox on the Item Units of Measure page provides a clear and detailed representation of the relationship between the base unit of measure (Base UoM) and a selected unit of measure (UoM). The system system dynamically adjusts the information displayed based on the item unit of measure configuration and the values in the Qty. Expressed in the UOM and Qty. Expressed in Base UOM fields.

The system uses the following method to determine the conversion phrase:

  • If the current record is the base UoM, the message is displayed as:
This is the base unit of measure.

  • If the Qty. Expressed in the UOM or Qty. Expressed in Base UOM field value is equal to 0, or if both are equal to 1, the system uses the Qty. per Unit of Measure field value to display the information as:
There are n [Selected UOM] in 1 [Base UOM].
For example: There are 1 KG in 1 PCS.

  • If the Qty. Expressed in the UOM field value is not equal to 1, the system uses the Qty. Expressed in the UOM field value and displays:
There are n [Selected UOM] in 1 [Base UOM].
For example: There are 10 KG in 1 PCS.

  • If none of the above conditions are met, the system uses the Qty. Expressed in Base UOM field value and displays:
There are n [Base UOM] in 1 [Selected UOM].
For example: There are 50 PCS in 1 BOX.

The system dynamically adjusts the information displayed based on whether the selected unit of measure is larger or smaller than the base unit, and which conversion field is populated.

The system displays an error message when the Qty. Rounding Precision field value on the item units of measure is not equal to 0 or 0.00001.

  • For more accurate control over rounding values, it is recommended to use the Rounding Precision field on the Item Card page.
  • The Item UOM Information FactBox, previously part of the Aptean Inventory Overview extension, is included in the Aptean Standard Measurements extension. This transition ensures that the FactBox aligns more closely with the functionality and purpose of managing units of measure, as it is directly related to UoM calculations and configurations.
