Production Order Components Line for Catch Weight Item
You can create Document Weight Lines for Production Order Component Line using the following steps:
- On the Released Production Orders page, on the Lines FastTab, select Line > Components to open the Prod. Order Components page.
- Open the Item Tracking Lines page.
- Select the required Lot No. and enter the value in the Quantity (Base) field.
The Weight Quantity (KG) field on the Item Tracking Lines page is updated. - Change the value in the Weight Qty. to Handle (KG) field.
- Close the Item Tracking Lines page.
If one production order component line has multiple Item Tracking Lines assigned, the fields on the components line will show the total value of all Document Weight Lines linked to that line.[!NOTE]
The Weight Quantity fields will be visible only on the Released Production Orders Components lines.
The Remaining Weight Qty. (KG) and Expected Weight (KG) fields on the Production Order Components line are updated based on the Net Weight of the Component item. The Act Consumption (Qty) will be updated according to the actual Weight Quantity consumed for the production order.
The Weight Quantity on the Item Tracking lines for the Production Order Components line items are suggested based on the Average Weight of the item in the stock based on the Item, Variant, Lot, and Location for that item.
To Create Warehouse Pick for Production Order Component Line
When executing the Create Warehouse Pick function on the Released Production Orders page for the component items, a Warehouse Pick with the average weight quantity based on the suggested lot (Pick According to FEFO (First Expired First Out) is set to True for the selected Warehouse Location) values is created for the production order components line.
If you change the lot number on the warehouse pick, the Weight Qty. to Handle (KG) field is updated based on the average weight of the selected lot. Also, if you change the Qty. to Handle (Base) value on the Warehouse Pick, the Weight Qty. to Handle (KG) field is updated accordingly.
After registering the Warehouse Pick, the Weight Quantity values in the Item Tracking Lines of the Production Order Components line are updated along with the Lot information and the Qty. to Handle. The Document Weight Lines are created for the Production Order Components line items. For more information, see Create Document Weight Line for Warehouse Pick Line
To Create Document Weight Lines for Components on Production/Consumption Journal
When the Item Tracking Lines are defined in the Production Order Component lines, the Document Weight Lines are updated accordingly on the Production Journal or Consumption Journal. The Weight Quantity (KG) field on the Production Journal or Consumption Journal page are updated based on the average weight as defined on the Production Order Components line.
- Open the Production Journal page.
-
Change the value in the Quantity (Base) field of the selected lot for consumption on the Item Tracking Lines page. The Weight Quantity (KG) value is updated based on the average weight of the selected lot.
The Consumption Weight Qty. (KG) field on the Production Journal are updated based on the total value of all Document Weight Lines linked to that line.
You can update the weight quantity as per the base quantity by opening the item tracking lines.
The Item Tracking Lines and Document Weight Lines on the Production Journal are updated in accordance with the Item Tracking Lines defined in the Production Order Component Lines.
The Document Weight Lines for the Consumption Journal functions in the same way as they do for the Production Journal (as mentioned above).
Apply costing by weight in production orders
Production processes support catch weight items with costing by weight for both consumption and output transactions.
To Post Production Journal for Consumption
You can post the production journal for consumption, that records the use of components in production orders and update inventory levels accordingly.
- On the Released Production Order page, on the action bar, select Actions > Functions > Production Journal.
The Production Journal page opens. - Enter or verify the weight quantities on the Item Tracking Lines page for consumption lines.
-
Post the production journal.
The system:- Calculates consumption costs based on weight quantities
- Creates item weight ledger entries for consumed items
- Generates item weight application entries linking consumption to receipts
For Example,
For a consumption entry:
- Item: Catch weight item with costing by weight
- Quantity: 20 pieces
- Weight Quantity: 210 KG
- Standard Cost per KG: €1.50
The system calculates:
- Cost Amount: €315.00 (210 KG × €1.50 per KG)
To Post Production Journal for an Output Entry
You can post the production journal for an output entry, that records the finished goods produced and updates inventory and production order status.
- On the Production Journal page, review the output line.
- On the Item Tracking Lines page, adjust the weight quantity if needed.
-
Post the production journal.
The system:- Calculates output cost based on weight quantity and routing costs
- Applies indirect costs and overhead rates from work center setup
- Creates expected cost entries that convert to actual costs after finishing the production order
For example,
For an output entry:
- Output Quantity: 10 pieces
- Output Weight Quantity: 110 KG
- Standard Material Cost per KG: €9.00
- Routing Cost per KG: €6.00
- Standard Cost per KG: €15.00
The system calculates:
- Expected Cost Amount: €1,650.00 (110 KG × €15.00 per KG)
To Apply Indirect Costs and Overhead Rates
When work centers have indirect costs or overhead rates configured, the system automatically includes these in the output cost calculation.
To Configure Work Center Costs
You can configure the costs associated with a work center, ensuring accurate cost calculation for production orders and routing operations.
- Select the Search icon
, enter Work Centers, and then select the related link.
The Work Centers list page opens. -
On the Costs FastTab, enter the following details:
- Direct Unit Cost: Base cost per time unit
- Indirect Cost %: Percentage of indirect costs
-
Overhead Rate: Fixed overhead amount per time unit
When you post output with these settings, the system calculates total costs including direct, indirect, and overhead components based on the actual weight quantity produced.
-
Select Save.
