Setting up warehouse templates
Warehouse Templates meet the needs of various warehouses. While the standard create pick functionality creates one pick per warehouse shipment, using the warehouse templates will allow you to create different picks depending on destination, full pallets and single items, and many more parameters.
This allows the warehouse manager to make specific picks based on the requirements for a particular shipment.
Using multiple settings in the Warehouse Template, you can also define the type of guidance, restrictions and/or confirmations you will get on the device.
- Select the Search icon
, enter Warehouse Templates and then choose the related link.
- On the Warehouse Templates page, choose the New action.
- Select Warehouse Template Group.
- Enter a Code, Description and Sequence in the lines for each Picking template.
- Fill in the other fields as necessary. Hover over a field to read a short description.
- Select a value in the Sorting Method field, to specify to which bin to be guided, when picking.
- Select the Calculate To Full Pick Qty. field, to specify to which bin to be guided, when picking.
- Select a value in the Qty. Display Type field, to specify to display the License Plate Type, when picking.
- Select a value in the Allowed Pick Qty. field.
- Select a value in the Transport Validation Type field, to specify which mandatory confirmation flow needs to be followed, when picking.
Bin display on the scanners
When you open the item list on the scanner, the bins shown for picking or placing items are determined by the Sorting Method field and the picking bin group order defined on the Picking Group Order page by selecting the Picking Order action.
The lines in the Picking Group Order page are sorted by sequence and define the order of bin groups displayed on the scanner.
For each bin group, the system selects a bin that matches the value in the Sorting Method field of the warehouse template. The available sorting methods are:
-
Blank: For each bin group, the system uses the default sorting method for bins that contain the requested item: Location Code, Bin Code, and Item.
-
FEFO - Exclusivity By Pick Order: For each bin group, bins containing the requested item are sorted first by the oldest lot number, then by exclusivity type, in this order: Fixed, Dynamic, and None.
-
Exclusivity By Pick Order - FEFO: For each bin group, bins containing the requested item are sorted first by exclusivity type in the following order: Fixed, Dynamic, None, and then by the oldest lot number.
-
License Plate Type By Pick Order - FEFO: For each bin group, bins containing the requested item are sorted first by the license plate type defined in the Default License Plate Type field of the warehouse template, and then by the oldest lot number.
The Item shelf life per customer field is always considered when sorting.
Assign destination license plate number in single pick
The system provides flexibility of the single pick process when handling license plates during warehouse picks via scanner. You can perform both full and mix picks, choosing to either pick a license plate as it exists in stock or to pick and place from one license plate to another.
The following functionalities allows to support full and partial pallet picks within one pick document.
- You can assign a destination license plate during single pick, like mix pick functionality for consolidating items from multiple source license plates into a single destination license plate number.
- The system allows you to scan a fully required license plate for a pick without assigning a destination license plate.
- You can scan and assign a non-existent, empty license plate or a picked license plate as a destination pallet during picking.
- The system allows unassigning a destination license plate by scanning the same destination license plate again on the Pick screen.
