Manage production orders

You can apply production costs to production orders in the Rate field value on the Document Trade Lines page.

The system applies production costs to the following production order pages:

When changing the status of a production order, the system copies document trade lines, ensuring the production costs are applied efficiently. You can modify the Rate field value on the Document Trade Lines page and the system recalculates the other fields accordingly.

  • You can update the unit cost for a work center when the Sub Contractor field value is set to blank on the Prod. Order Routing page.
  • Additionally, the system allows posting a work center on the Production Journal page even when it is linked to a document trade line.

When the status of the production order is set to Finished, the system posts capacity ledger entries (including production costs) for all document trade lines within the production order

The system posts production costs (in the form of capacity ledger entries) even when the associated work center does not have a cost on the Prod. Order Routing page. The system derives the cost from the linked document trade line. This ensures capacity is accounted for independently of routing data.

Manage production costs defined per shipping container

The system applies the relevant trade plan rates to packaging costs as set up on the Trade Plan Rates page. For more information see, Set up trade plan rates for production costs.

This feature is available only when the Aptean Packaging extension is installed.

Manage production costs when subcontracting production

If the production process is subcontracted, the system does not post capacity ledger entries when the production order is set to Finished to prevent duplication of production costs. In this scenario, capacity ledger entries and linked value entries are created upon posting or invoicing the purchase order that was created by the subcontracting worksheet.
