The system ensures precise trade plan calculations, pricing, trade costs, and value entries for catch weight items in sales orders by updating quantities and unit amounts according to weight.

Calculate document trade lines with weight quantities

You can update the document trade plan calculation on the document trade lines, ensuring accurate pricing adjustments in sales orders, for the catch weight items.

  1. Open the required Sales Order page.

  2. On the Lines FastTab, fill out the preferred fields like item number, location code, quantity, etc.

  3. On the action bar, select Line > Related Information > Item Tracking Lines.
The Item Tracking Lines page opens.

  4. On the Item Tracking Lines page, update the required values in the Qty. to Handle (Base) and Weight Quantity to Handle (KG) fields.

    Note

Subsequently, the Quantity to Invoice and Weight Quantity to Invoice (KG) fields are updated with their respective values.

  5. Select Close.

  6. On the action bar of the sales header, select Actions > Functions > Update Catch Weight Item Unit Price.
The system updates the unit price of the catch weight item, which is calculated from the price set on the sales price list for that item.

The system retrieves all active trade plans with the most specific applicable rates for that document. The rates will be converted to document trade lines, which display the cost calculations based on the rates for the corresponding document line. 7. On the Lines FastTab, select Line > Related Information > Document Trade Lines.
The Document Trade Lines page opens.

You can view the updated document trade plan calculation for catch weight items in a sales order, where the eligible base and current line amounts in the document trade lines are accurately calculated based on the Rate Type field and the weight quantity to handle.

Here’s how the calculation is determined based on the selected value in the Rate Type field:

  • Amount per Unit: When running the Update Catch Weight Item Unit Price action manually, the Eligible Base field is updated based on the Weight Quantity to Invoice (KG) from the item tracking lines. However, after posting a partial invoice, the system updates the Eligible Base field by summing up the Weight Quantity to Invoice (KG) and Weight Quantity Invoiced (KG) values from the item tracking lines.
  • Percentage of Line Amount: When the corresponding Calculation Base field is set to Base Price, the Eligible Base field is updated based on the Amount field on the line. For catch weight items, it is determined by calculating the unit price (converted) using the weight factor and then multiplying it by the total quantity on the sales line.
Note
  • If the document’s trade line rate unit of measure (UoM) differs from the catch weight UoM specified on the Catch Weight Setup page, the system will apply the standard unit of measure conversion. In this case, the system will use the net weight of the item to calculate the eligible base.
  • If item tracking lines and weight quantity are not defined, the system will use the net weight as the eligible amount.

The calculation method will adjust accordingly for other price rules like Discount or blank.

Calculate document trade lines with weight quantities while posting

After fully posting the sales order for shipping or invoicing, the Eligible Base and Current Line Amount fields are updated based on the actual weight of the catch weight item recorded in the item tracking lines, considering the rate type of the document trade line.

When the Rate Type field is set as Amount per Unit, Amount per Net Weight, Amount per Gross Weight, or Percentage of Line Amount the system performs similarly as mentioned above in step 7.

You can view the updated field values on the following documents:

  • The posted sales invoice is updated with the unit price and line amount.
  • The posted document trade lines on the posted sales invoice are updated with the eligible base, amount, unit piece, and current line amount.
  • The value entries for the accruals from the document trade lines are generated considering the actual weight of the catch weight item as defined in the item tracking lines.
Note

When partially posting the invoice (of quantity that is less than the total quantity on the sales order), the system updates the Eligible Base field on the document trade lines (along with all related fields) based on the sum of the Weight Quantity Invoiced (KG) and the Weight Quantity to Invoice (KG) fields. You can manually update the Eligible Base field value according to the new Weight Quantity to Invoice (KG) field value by executing the Update Catch Weight Item Unit Price action.

The system operates similarly when posting the following documents, either fully or partially.

  • Sales Order

  • Sales Invoice

  • Sales Return Order

  • Sales Credit Memo
