Warehouse picking and shipping
Warehouse pick is an activity that allows the user to pick items from a warehouse’s storage bins in preparation for shipments. In Business Central, there are multiple ways to create and process warehouse shipments. This quick reference guide outlines two standard approaches through:
- Shop floor activities
- Mobile warehouse registration
Picking and shipping via shop floor activities
The following steps detail the creation of warehouse shipment through the shop floor activities.

Select the Search icon
, enter Shop Floor Activities, and then choose the related link.
The Shop Floor Activities list page opens.
Filter the records for sales orders with released status to create warehouse shipment.

Select the desired sales order.
The Sales Order card page opens. -
On the action bar, select Home > Create Whse. Document.
The warehouse document is created for this record.

Select the Search icon
, enter Warehouse Shipments, and then choose the related link.
The Warehouse Shipments list page opens.

Select the desired warehouse shipment from the No. field.
Alternatively, on the Sales Order page, on the action bar, select Related > Warehouse > Warehouse Shipment Lines.
The Whse. Shipment Lines page opens.

Navigate to the desired record and on the action bar, select Show Document.
The Warehouse Shipment page opens.

On the action bar, select Home > Create Pick.

Select OK.
The warehouse pick is created with the quantity to ship and the location of the bin. This will result in the transfer of the item quantity from the warehouse bin to the warehouse shipment bin.

On the action bar, select Related > Shipment > Other > Pick Lines.
The Warehouse Pick Lines list page opens.

Select the desired warehouse pick from the No. field.
The Warehouse Pick card page opens.

On the action bar, select Home > Register Pick.
The system displays the confirmation message.

Select Yes.
The pick is registered and the item tracking is complete for the warehouse shipment. This will update the quantity to ship field on the warehouse shipment line.

On the action bar, select Home > Post Shipment.
The Warehouse Shipment is posted.
Picking and shipping via mobile warehouse registration
The following steps detail the creation of warehouse shipment through the mobile warehouse registration.

On the mobile warehouse registration home screen, in the QS (Quick Scan) field, enter or scan the sales order number.
For existing warehouse shipments, the shipment number is directly scanned.
This will create a new warehouse shipment and a pick.
The Pick page opens. -
In the Identifier field, enter or scan the bin number from which the items are to be picked.
Additionally, enter or scan the required item and lot numbers. -
In the Qty. Handled field, enter the value.

Press Enter.

Repeat steps 2 through 4 to pick all the additional items.

On the action menu, choose Register or press the F9 key to register the pick.
This moves the items from their storage bins to the designated shipping bins. You can now post the shipment from Business Central.
Undo shipment
Posted sales shipment

Navigate to the Posted Sales Shipments list page.

Select the desired posted sales shipment from the No. field.
The Posted Sales Shipment card page opens. -
On the Lines FastTab, select Function > Undo Shipment.
The system displays the confirmation message.

Select Yes.
The undo shipment process has been completed for the selected line.
Posted warehouse shipment

Navigate to the Posted Warehouse Shipments list page.

Select the desired posted warehouse shipment from the No. field.
The Posted Whse. Shipment card page opens. -
On the Lines FastTab, select Line > Posted Source Document.
The Posted Sales Shipment page opens.

On the Lines FastTab, select Functions > Undo Shipment.
The system displays the confirmation message.

Select Yes.
The undo shipment process has been completed for the selected line.
This works only when the shipment has been posted and not invoiced. This is similar for inventory with license plates.
