Post the quick production entry for consumption

You can post the consumption for a production order based on the quantities specified in the Qty. to Consume or the Quick Production Additional Consumption records.

  1. Open the Quick Production Entry page.
  2. On the action bar, select Post.

After posting the production order for consumption,

  • The Item Tracking Lines for the corresponding Components are created.
  • If the Additional Consumption Rule is set to Relative, and Qty. to Output is greater than zero, each of the components in Quick Production Consumption will have its Quantity set to be the Qty. per multiplied by the Qty. to Output from the Quick Production Entry page.
  • If the Additional Consumption Rule is set to Manual, the consumption lines will get the Quantity values from the Quick Production Consumption records.
Note

A new record (consumption line) can be created regardless of the option selected in the Additional Consumption Rule if the item number does not already exist among the component lines.

  • The Qty. to Consume and the related fields on the Quick Production Entry page will reset to zero.
  • Finally, the Completed Consumption (Base) field is updated with the posted consumption.

Post the quick production entry for output

You can post the output for a production order based on the values specified in the Qty. to Output and Run Time fields.

After posting the production order for output,

  • The Item Tracking Lines for the corresponding Outputs are created with the Lot No. and License Plate No. defined on the Quick Production Entry page.
  • If the Unit of Measure Code is not the base unit, the system will perform its standard validation for the Output Quantity. This involves calculating the Qty. per Unit of Measure and Output Quantity (Base) within the Item Journal Line table record.
  • Subsequently, the system will update the Expiration Date for the Item Tracking Line to match the date entered on the Quick Production Entry page.
Note

You can also perform the Output posting via the Output Journal or Production Journal.

For more information, see Batch Post Output and Run Times.

Error handling

To avoid common errors when posting the quick production entry, ensure the following conditions are met:

  • The From and To items must not be the Catch Weight items.
  • The Qty. to Consume, Qty. to Output, and Run Time fields must have a value.
  • There must be enough bin content for the main and additional components, their related Lot No., License Plate, and the Qty. to Consume involved during posting.
  • The Qty. to Consume and Qty. to Output fields must have a positive value on the Quick Production Entry page.
  • The Routing Link Code for the Routing No. and Production BOM must be empty.
  • The From Lot No. involved in the Quick Production Entry must not be blocked on the Lot No. Information Card.
  • You can use the From and To items for the direct locations during Quick Production.
Furthermore, you cannot create and post the Quick Production Entry for pick locations when the Directed Put-away and Pick toggle is turned on and the Prod. Consumption Whse. Handling field is set as Warehouse Pick (mandatory) on the Location Card page.
