Set up items

You can set up the cost apportion factor at the item level to define how purchase value and cost of production are to be distributed to all the possible output items of a production order. This factor is used in conjunction with the quantities of output items produced to calculate how the total purchase value is to be redistributed across all production items.

The following procedure outlines how to set up an item with a production cost apportion factor to use in production cost apportionment.

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Items, and then choose the related link.
    The Items list page opens.

  2. Select the required record.
    The Item Card page opens.

  3. On the Replenishment FastTab, in the Cost Apportion Factor field, enter the factor that is used to allocate or apportion costs for this item. This factor denotes the item’s relative weight concerning value apportionment in comparison to other items used as output in the same production order.

The field name displays the unit of measure that is defined on the Production Cost Apportionment Items or Production Cost Apportionment Setup page. For example, if the unit of measure is set to KG, the field name will appear as Cost Apportion Factor (KG).
