In order for the Mobile Queue activity to support equipment-based activity assignment, the following records must be configured:

  • Fixed assets must be defined and associated to special equipment codes.
  • Bin or zone codes can be associated to special equipment codes.
  • Mobile user records must be associated to fixed asset records.

The equipment-based assignment feature of the Mobile Queue activity utilizes Business Central’s standard Fixed Asset functionality. If you wish to assign queue activities in this manner, you must set up a fixed asset record for each piece of equipment.

In addition to any standard fixed asset setup, a special equipment code must be entered in the Special Equipment Code field. This field is linked to the standard special equipment code functionality within Dynamics, and assigning a special equipment code to a fixed asset is necessary to associate that fixed asset to warehouse activities.

It is also possible to associate special equipment codes to warehouse bins. This activity is performed in the Bins page, which can be accessed from the relevant location card by clicking the Home tab and, in the Process group, selecting the Bins option.

In the Special Equipment Code field for each bin, enter or use the AssistButton to assign a special equipment code to the bin.

Special equipment can be assigned warehouse zones instead of bins from the relevant location card by clicking the Home tab and, in the Process group, selecting the Zones option. All the bins within a zone will be assigned that zone’s special equipment code.

The final setup step is assigning default equipment to mobile users on the Mobile User Setup page.

In the Active Equipment Code field, enter or use the AssistButton to assign a fixed asset code to the mobile user. By linking special equipment codes to fixed assets and warehouse bins, and in turn associating fixed assets to users, Mobile Warehouse will direct a user to those warehouse document lines with bins that share the same special equipment code as that user’s active equipment code. Note that it is possible for users to change their assigned active equipment code on-the-fly, accommodating scenarios where a user may switch the equipment they are using throughout the course of their shift. In addition, this field can be left blank if you want the user to view warehouse documents for all special equipment codes.
