License plating
Introduction
The primary goal of the Aptean License Plating extension is to trace all logistic transactions to a license plate number throughout the supply chain. License plating refers to the assignment and tracking of inventory items that are stored together to facilitate movement into, out of, and throughout a warehouse location. A license plate can be for example, a pallet or a roll container that contains stacked trade items such as cases or crates. License plating is used in combination with a location and the bin system, so you have a real-time of view where a license plate is in the warehouse.
The License plating in the supply chain refers to how inventory items are tracked throughout the warehouse environment. A license plate is a number assigned to each containment unit, which allows for better grouping and management of inventory. This, in turn, helps businesses in the supply chain greatly improve operational efficiency by reducing the number of scans necessary to enter a transaction.
A license plate card is created, and appropriate items are assigned to the license plate as contents. Unique information about each item, such as a lot number, location code and bin code, is recorded as part of this content assignment. An integration has been created with the Aptean Packaging extension, which enables the assignment of a shipping container code to the license plate number.
The License plating is especially effective in environments that utilize mobile data processing in the form of handheld devices with barcode scanning functionality.
