Set up pooling templates

You can set up a pooling template to define a filter criteria to easily determine which purchase lines should be considered as settlement lines for pooling.

When you apply a pooling template and run a settlement, the system will create settlement lines for purchase order lines that match the filter criteria. For more information, see Create and run a settlement.

In a pooling template, you set up specific filters for items, item categories, vendors, and lot attributes. Additionally, the pooling template contains setup properties on the General FastTab that are considered as business rules when handling the pooling settlement.

Note

You can only use lot attributes that are defined as global lot attributes. For more information, see Global Lot Attributes.

The following procedure outlines how to create and define a pooling template.

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Pooling Templates, and then choose the related link.
    The Pooling Templates list page opens.

  2. On the action bar, select New.
    The Pooling Template page opens.

  3. On the General FastTab, enter the required information in the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    CodeEnter the code to identify the pooling template.
    DescriptionEnter the description of the pooling template.
    Cost Template CodeSelect a cost template code to apply to the pooling template. When using this pooling template in a settlement calculation, this cost template will be applied to it by default. For more information, see Cost calculation templates.
    Cost Template DescriptionSpecifies the description of the cost template applied to the pooling template.
    Pool bySelect the grouping filter to group the pooling lines accordingly. The available options are:
    • Item: The settlement lines with the same item will be summarized into the same pooling line.
    • Item Category: The settlement lines with the same item category will be summarized into the same pooling line.
    • Vendor: The settlement lines with the same buy-from vendor will be summarized into the same pooling line.
    • Lot Attributes: The settlement lines w ith the same global lot attribute will be summarized into the same pooling line.
    Lot Aggregation Template CodeSelect a pooling lot aggregation template code to apply to the pooling template. For more information, see Set up pooling lot aggregation templates.
    This field is editable if you have set the Pool by field as Lot Attributes.
    Lot Aggregation Template DescriptionSpecifies the description of the pooling lot aggregation template applied to the pooling template.
    Proposed Pooling Quantity SourceSelect whether the quantity proposed on the Pooling page is based on the sales or received quantity.
  4. On the Lines FastTab, you can add filters for items, item categories, and vendors. Enter the required information in the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    Source TypeSelect the type of source: Item, Item Category, or Vendor.
    Source No.Select a number associated with the source.
    DescriptionSpecifies the description associated with the source.
    Note

    On the action bar, select Select Items, Select Item Categories, or Select Vendors to add two or more lines directly from a full list of items, item categories, or vendors, respectively.

  5. On the Attributes FastTab, you can add filters for global lot attributes. Enter the required information in the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    Lot Attribute NameSelect the name of the lot attribute.
    Lot Attribute Value FilterSelect a lot attribute value associated with the lot attribute name.

    On the action bar, select Select Global Lot Attributes to add two or more lines directly from a full list of global lot attribute values.
