SMTP Mail Setup
The Aptean EDI solution can be configured to notify designated users of the status of EDI activity. Because this notification occurs via e-mail, the program must be directed as to where and how e-mails will be transferred. These settings are entered in the SMTP Mail Setup window, which can be accessed from the Electronic Data Interchange Setup menu by clicking SMTP Mail Setup.
Fill in the fields as follows:
Field | Description |
---|---|
SMTP Server | Enter the address of the SMTP server that will be used for notifications. |
SMTP Server Port | Enter the number of the port that has been assigned for the SMTP server. By default, port 25 is used for an SMTP server. |
Authentication | Select the method of authentication that is used by the SMTP server. The assigned authentication can be Anonymous, NTLM, or Basic. |
User ID | If the selected authentication type is Basic, you must enter a username to permit requests to be sent to the SMTP server. |
Password | If the selected authentication type is Basic, you must enter a password to permit requests to be sent to the SMTP server. |
Secure Connection | Enable this field if the SMTP server requires a secure connection. |
The server that is configured in the SMTP Mail Setup window is utilized for the processing of all notification activity from Business Central, not just Aptean EDI. If Aptean EDI is being implemented within an environment in which another type of notification is being generated (such as Business Central’s standard document approval feature), the setup activity in the SMTP Mail Setup window will have already been completed.
