The following steps cover the settings that must be configured initially for the catch weight extension to perform as expected.

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Catch Weight Setup, and then choose the related link.

  2. On the General FastTab, fill in the Unit of Measure Code field with the Unit of Measure Code of the Catch Weight items from the dropdown menu.
This sets up the Catch Weight Unit of Measure.

You can pick the Unit of Measure of your choice.

You cannot change the Catch Weight Unit of Measure if any item is set up as a Catch Weight item.

  3. On the Output Cost Revaluation FastTab, in the Reason Code field, select the required code from the drop-down menu. The Reason Code will be used in all the value entries created to revaluate the Catch Weight output costing. For more information, see To adjust the output cost.

Once the revaluation value entries are created to correct the cost of the output catch weight item by running the Adjust Output Cost – Item Entries by Weight report, you cannot change the specified reason code on the Catch Weight Setup page. Also, the specified date cannot be changed after running the Adjust Output Cost – Item Entries by Weight report.

  4. In the Output Cost Revaluation From Date field, select a date greater than the system’s current date (Today).

Production orders involving the Catch Weight item as the output will undergo revaluation, determining the cost based on the item weight. This revaluation will occur after the specified date in the From Date field.

You cannot select the Output Cost Revaluation From Date lesser than the system’s current date (Today).

  1. In the From Date field, on the Sales Cost Amount Weight Application FastTab, select the start date for weight-based calculation.

You cannot select a date earlier than the system’s current date; the date must be today or any date after today. You cannot change this field if the Adj. Sales Cost Amount Weight field on the Value Entries page has a value.

This date acts as a filters on the Item Ledger Entries page, so only records created on or after the selected date will be included in the calculations.

  1. On the Costing by Weight Implementation FastTab, in the Inventory Adjustment Implementation field, select Catch Weight Costing. This option uses the custom Adjust Cost - Item Entries action when processing cost adjustments for catch weight items with the Costing by Weight toggle turned on.

When catch weight items have the Costing by Weight toggle turned on, the system prevents you from changing the Inventory Adjustment Implementation field value to Default Implementation.

Adjust costs by weight

The Adjust Cost - Item Entries action automatically forwards cost changes through the supply chain based on weight applications. The Inventory Adjustment Implementation field on the Catch Weight Setup page controls which cost adjustment function the system uses:

When any item has the Costing by Weight toggle turned on, the system requires the Inventory Adjustment Implementation field value to be set to Catch Weight Costing.
