Walkthrough: Undo shipment lines

The truck drives off, and somebody asks: “Why is that pallet still on the loading dock?” In the evening, just before closing shop, we notice a pallet in the corner of the loading area. We realize, we forgot to put a pallet on a truck…

How to cope with items not really shipped, but shipped in Business Central? There are 2 ways to cope with this. * First way, best practice, we create a Sales Return Order on which we receive the beer back into our inventory. * Second way, we undo the shipment of a Posted Sales Shipment Line.

Setup needed to undo shipments

1. Select the Search icon , enter Adv. Warehouse Setup and then choose the related link.
2. Check the field Status Undone License Plate. Hover over the field to read a short description.

3. Select the Search icon , enter Sales Orders, and then choose the related link.
4. On the Sales Orders page, choose the New action.
5. In the Customer Name field, enter the No. 95200 (Selangorian Pub LPN).
6. In the Location Code field, enter SILVER_OWM.
7. Fill in line:

8. Select the Release action.
9. Select the Create Warehouse Shipment action. The Warehouse Shipment page opens.
10. Select the Create Pick action.
11. On the Whse.-Shipment - Create Pick page, select the Warehouse Template Group 2_FULLMIX.
12. Select the OK button. A new pick activity is created.
13. Select the Navigate – Pick Lines action. The Warehouse Pick Lines list opens.
14. Select one line with Quantity 40.
15. Select the Card action. The Warehouse Pick opens.
16. In both Take Lines, select a License Plate No.
17. Select the Register Pick action.
18. Select the Card action. The Warehouse Pick page opens.
19. Select all lines.
20. In the lines, select the Assign destination license plate action.
21. Select the License Plate Type.
22. One License Plate No on all the selected Place lines is added.
23. In the first two Take Lines of license plate tracked items, select a License Plate No.
24. Select the Register Pick action.
25. Close Warehouse Pick Lines.
26. Select the Post Shipment action. Ship.
27. Answer Yes to One or more pallets do not have the status LOADED! Continue?
28. Close the sales order.

We posted the shipment, gave the paperwork to the truckdriver and he drives off. The customer calls: “You promised me 1 and half pallet of each beer, I’m missing the Cronus Premium crates. Strangely, the part on the mixed pallet is also not on that pallet. Can you please send it together with my order next week”

You check on the loading floor and discover the pallet and next to the pallet 20 crates without pallet.

Let’s undo shipped items

Please keep in mind, you can always check the warehouse and detailed warehouse entries to find all movements, including License Plate Nos., within the different locations.

29. Select the Search icon , enter Posted Sales Shipments, and then choose the related link. Sort descending on the field No..
30. Select the top Posted Sales Shipment. The Posted Sales Shipment opens.
31. Select the Line with No. 1012.
32. Select the Undo Shipment action.
33. Check the, negative, counter posting, which happened.
34. Close the Posted Sales Shipment Card and list.
35. Select the Search icon , enter License plate List, and then choose the related link.
36. Filter the field Status to undone.
37. Filter the field Whse. Document No. to the current value.
38. Clear Filter on the field Status.

On the filtered lines, we have:

• 1 Full Pallet, status Shipped.
• 1 Full Pallet, Status Undone, still on the shipping bin.
• 1 Mix Pallet, Status Undone, content only of the undone item, still on the shipping bin.

To put the items back usable in inventory, we need to move them in the inventory and correct the License Plate Status

• Use the Item Reclassification Journal to move them.
  • Assign a New License Plate Number to the Mix License Plate No.
• Change The Status of the Full License plate to OPEN
• Change The Status of the Original Mix License plate to SHIPPED
  • Select the Update Contents action.
