Walkthrough: Shipping License Plates to Location without bins, nor License Plate Tracking

With some of our customers, we have goods on consignment. Our customer sends us a status of their inventory every week, which we want to invoice and of course debit in the simplest way possible. For this, we have created a location for the customer, with the inventory we sent to them. To keep the process simple, we don’t want to have to keep track of License Plate Nos. anymore, once in the location of our customer.

Setup

To begin, we need a License Plate tracking Code to invoke no mandatory License Plate Tracking and add it to the Stockkeeping Unit.

1. Select the Search icon , enter License Plate Tracking Codes and then choose the related link.
2. On the License Plate Tracking Codes page, choose the New action.
3. Fill in line:

CodeDescriptionType
NONENo Mandatory License Plate TrackingItem

4. Select the Search icon , enter Items, and then choose the related link.
5. Select item 1012, to open the item card.
6. Select the Create Stockkeeping Unit Action.
7. Select Location in the options.
8. Select 1012 in filter on No. in Filter: Item.
9. Select SILVER_OWM|BLUE-BOND on Location Filter in Filter Totals by.
10. Select the Stockkeeping Unit Action.
11. Select item 1012, Location BLUE-BOND, to open the Stockkeeping Unit card.
12. Change License Plate Code to NONE.
13. Close all open pages.

Transfer to Location without bin

Now, we can create a transfer order to ship the inventory to the customer.

14. Select the Search icon , enter Transfer Orders, and then choose the related link.
15. On the Transfer Orders page, choose the New action.
16. Fill in header:

Transfer-from-CodeTransfer-to-CodeIn-Transit Code
SILVER_OWMBLUE-BONDOWN LOG.

17. Fill in line:

ItemQuantity
101280

18. Select the Release action.
19. Select the Create Whse. Shipment action. The Warehouse shipment opens.
20. Select the Create Pick action. The Whse.-Shipment – Create Pick opens.
21. Select 3_TRANSFER_FM in the Warehouse Template Group.
22. Select OK.
23. Select the Pick Lines action.
24. Select the Card action.
25. Select all lines.
26. Select the Split per Pick UOM action.
27. Select a License Plate No. in the lines, where Action Type is Take.
28. Select the Register Pick action.
29. Close.
30. In the Warehouse Shipment, choose the Post Shipment action.
31. In the Transfer Order, choose the Post action.

The Transfer Order is posted, so deleted by default in Business Central.

Check movement of items and License Plates

32. Select the Search icon , enter Item Ledger Entries, and then choose the related link.
33. Sort the Entry No. declining.
34. Check the last 4 entries.
In the Item Ledger Entries, you will see the movements from the shipping Location to the In-Transit Location and from the In-Transit Location to the receiving Location.
35. Select the Search icon , enter Warehouse Entries, and then choose the related link.
36. Sort the Entry No. declining.
37. Check the last 5 entries.

In the Warehouse Entries, you will see the movements from the inventory bins to the shipping bin and the shipment from the shipping bin. Because the In-Transit and Receiving Location both are not Bin Mandatory, no warehouse entries are created on those locations. And because, License Plate Nos. are kept in the Detailed Warehouse Entries, no License Plate Nos. can be kept in a location, which is not Bin Mandatory.

To avoid the movement to look weird and unintelligible, it is advised to create Stock keeping units, with the correct License Plate Tracking Code.
