Walkthrough: Preparing a truck to visit different pubs and stores

Article04/02/20244 min read

In our company we use own trucks to transport our products to different customers. The flow we use, is:

  • The Sales employee, enters Sales Orders
  • The Warehouse Planner creates Combined Warehouse Shipments from the Route Planning Worksheet.
  • The Warehouse Picks are picked and put on the shipment bin for this truck.
  • In the morning the truck driver will put all his pallets in the truck and do his round.

When creating picks to be used for our own trucks, we have some standard rules in our company, mainly to help the truck driver to put the pallets in a comprehensive way on his truck:

  • Keg pallets are put first in the truck, so all keg picks should be done separately and added together in the truck.
  • Full pallets and mixed pallets for 1 destination to be tagged with a destination label.
  • All orders for other customers, with small orders, will be put together on mixed and full pallets without a destination label.

Explanation

  • Open first Pick

    • Destination No.: 95100
    • Pick Template Code: 10_DESTFULL
Not all quantities in the lines are full pallet quantities. Please check and discover the sum of the different lines per item result in a multiple of the PAL Unit of Measure quantity of that item. This is due to the Move to Template code 10_DESTFULL in the Warehouse Template Code 14_DESMIXMOTHER. In this setting, multiple orders on 1 warehouse shipment result in multiple warehouse shipment lines, and because of the Move to Template Code, totals to full PAL are added to the Warehouse Template Code in the Move to Template Code. So, all full PAL to be picked for, in this case per destination, will be added in the full PAL Pick.
  • Open fourth Pick

    • Destination No.: 95100
    • Pick Template Code: 10_DESTMIXOTHER
In this pick we find the remainder of all not full PAL quantity lines for this destination after the Move to Template Code did his work. So, no full PAL quantities remain to be picked in the mix pick.
  • Open fifth Pick

    • Destination No.: 95300
    • Pick Template Code: 10_DESTMIXOTHER
This destination has only a Mix Pick. Because the total quantity of the mix pick exceeds the 0,5 PAL in the Min. Quantity and the Equivalent Unit of Measure on the picking template settings, a separate Mix Pick is created.
For all destinations not ordered more than 0,5 PAL, nor being WHOLESALERS, combined mix picks are created, separately for Kegs and for the rest.
  • Open seventh Pick

    • Destination No.: Empty.
    • Pick Template Code: 10_COMMIXKEG
  • Open eighth Pick

    • Destination No.: Empty.
    • Pick Template Code: 10_COMMIX
Check the different destinations, and orders, in the pick.
