Integration with Aptean Production Cost Apportionment

Article • 2/12/2025 • 4 min read

When the Aptean Beverage Advanced Warehouse Management extension is used in conjunction with the Aptean Production Cost Apportionment extension, the system ensures the apportioning of production costs using the advanced warehouse management license plate tracking system. This allows businesses to track raw materials and allocate production costs based on actual input costs.

Make sure to configure the beverage advanced warehouse management application on the Feature Control page. For more information, see Set up feature control.

Set up production cost apportionment

To set up production cost apportionment, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Production Cost Apportionment Setup page.
  2. On the General FastTab, in the Output Cost Method field, select By Factor.
This triggers the creation of additional entries that impact cost apportionment. Otherwise, the system follows standard Business Central behavior, distributing costs evenly across items.

You must define the cost apportion factor at the item level in the Cost Apportion Factor field on the Item Card page. This determines how the purchase value and production cost are distributed among all possible output items of a production order.

For more information, see Set up items.

You can view the updated cost apportion factor and ratio for each line on the released production order lines.
  14. Finish the production order.
  15. Open the associated Finished Production Order page.
The finished production order lines display details of the main, consumption, and output items.
  16. On the action bar, select Entries > Item Ledger Entries.
The Item Ledger Entries page opens.
  17. In the Quantity, Invoiced Quantity, and Cost Amount (Actual) fields, you can view the quantities split based on the cost apportion factor defined for the item or item family.

Turn on the Enable Production Apportionment Costing for Co-Products toggle on the Process Manufacturing Setup page to specify whether production apportionment costing is enabled for co-products.

  • When this toggle is turned on, the Skip Reallocation Consumption toggle, displayed in the dialog when executing the Change Status action on a released production order, is automatically enabled and becomes non-editable when the production order status is updated.
  • You can view item ledger entries for co-products that are reversed and revised based on the production cost apportion ratio.
  • When you create a production order and post output quantities, the system automatically calculates the cost apportion ratio. For more information, see Calculate cost apportion ratio.

The Detailed Warehouse Entries page does not show entries where the quantities are divided according to the defined cost apportion factor from the Aptean Production Cost Apportionment extension.
