Set up advanced warehouse management

You can define settings for managing license plates, returnable items, and archiving in advanced warehouse processes on the Adv. Warehouse Setup page. These settings control warehouse tracking, bin restrictions, unit of measure defaults, and retention rules for warehouse records.

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Adv. Warehouse Setup, and then choose the related link. The Adv. Warehouse Setup page opens.

  2. On the General FastTab, enter the required information in the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    License Plate Nos.Select the default number series used for creating license plates.
    Mix License Plate Nos.Select the number series used for creating mixed license plates.
    DestinationSelect the definition of the destination (for example, source number + address code).
    Default Pallet UoMSelect the default pallet unit of measure to be used in calculating license plates.
    Default Layer UoMSelect the default layer unit of measure to be used in calculating license plates.
    Allow 1 LPN On Multiple BinsTurn on this toggle to place one license plate number in multiple bins.
    Allow Expired Lots (FEFO)Turn on this toggle to include expired lots when assigning item tracking by FEFO in the warehouse shipment. This toggle is turned off by default.
  3. On the License Plate FastTab, enter the required information in the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    Warehouse StatusSelect the status values that can be assigned to license plates. The available options are setup on the Logistic Statuses page. For more information, see Setting up logistics statuses.
    LPN Quantity Inbound RestrictionSelect the quantity restrictions when registering inbound license plate numbers. The system does not allow you to register a license plate number with a quantity higher than the unit of measure (UoM) per item or lot number. This applies to all items that have a license plate number UoM, including cases with multiple lot numbers.
    Default Break Bulk FilterSelect whether a default bulk filter is applied.
    Delete Empty Whse Put-AwayTurn on this toggle to automatically delete the warehouse put-away documents without lines.
    Whse. Shipment Bin Code UpdateSelect how the bin code on the warehouse shipment lines are updated.
    Full LPN Balance Check On Pick RegistrationTurn on this toggle to balance the take and place lines on a warehouse pick per license plate number while registering a pick.
  4. On the Returnable Items FastTab, enter the required information in the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    Ret. Item – Vendor View CodeSelect the view code for vendor returnable items.
    Ret. Item – Item View CodeSelect the view code for item returnable items.
    Document Lookup PeriodEnter the date formula used to lookup the warehouse entries.
  5. On the Archiving FastTab, enter the required information in the following fields:

    FieldDescription
    License Plate Archive Retention PeriodEnter the time frame (1D, 1W, 2M) that license plates are kept in the license plate table after being shipped. License plates shipped before the retention period are archived.
    License Plate Archive Delete EmptiesTurn on this toggle to delete the empty license plates from the related table.
    License Plate Delete Empty Retention PeriodEnter the time frame (1D, 1W, 2M) that empty license plates are kept in the license plate table after being created. License plates created before this retention period are deleted.
    Detailed Whse. Empty Retention PeriodEnter the time frame (1D, 1W, 2M) that detailed warehouse entries are kept in the table entries before the retention period and having per bin 0 on balance are archived. Evaluation is made on the registration date.
    Detailed Whse. Shipment Retention PeriodEnter the time frame (1D, 1W, 2M) that detailed warehouse entries are kept in the table. Entries before the retention period and having per bin 0 on balance will be archived. The calculation is based on the posting date.

Here are some best practices for the following fields:

  • Destination: Consider using source number + address code, even if you do not have different shipping addresses at this moment.
  • Default Break Bulk Filter: Select True, even if you do not have directed locations on this moment.
  • Full LPN Balance Check On Pick Registration: Select True.
  • Allow 1 LPN on Multiple Bins: Select False to avoid the two-part scan (license plate number and bin) throughout your warehouse.
