Walkthrough: Use recurring sales lines in fast order entry

In the beverage industry, customers often order the same products with every new order. By creating recurring sales lines with these products, you can increase the efficiency of your order intake:

  • Manual: the user executes the Get Recurring Sales Lines action.
  • Automatic recurring sales lines are automatically added when a new document is created for the customer.
  • Always Ask the user is made aware of existing recurring sales lines and has the choice to execute the Get Recurring Sales Lines action.

This function is also available on the Fast Order Entry Page. Here are some tips and tricks to get full benefit of the combination of the two.

Create multiple Recurring Sales Lines

The company in this walkthrough sells multiple types of beverages: own produced beers, but also beers, soft drinks, wines and spirits that are purchased from third parties. The customers that they sell it to, can in general be divided in two channels, the catering industry (hotels, bars, restaurants) and retail (supermarkets).

These recurring sales lines are created:

  • BEER-PREM: this list contains own produced beers in KEG and the purchased beers (KEG or CASE).
  • BEER-RET: this list contains own produced and purchased beers in CASE.
  • SOFT: this list contains soft drinks and waters in PACK or CASE.
  • WINE: this list contains wines in BOTTLE.
  • SPIRITS: this list contains strong alcoholic drinks in BOTTLE.

Our sales department signed a contract with a new pub, the Red Lion. They will serve our beers from the draft

First, we will create a list that contains beer in kegs:

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Recurring Sales Lines, and then choose the related link.
  2. Choose the New action.
  3. Enter BEER-KEG in the Code field and Beers in Keg in the Description.
  4. On the Lines FastTab, select the Items:
  • 1080
  • 1280
  • 1770

Next, we create the new customer:

  1. Select the Search icon , enter Customers, and then choose the related link.
  2. Choose the  New  action.
  3. Enter 63000 in the No. field and Red Lion in the Name.
  4. Choose the Apply Template action.
  5. Select the template for Customer DOMESTIC and choose OK and confirm the message.

You can fill in other fields on the customer card but for this exercise it is only necessary to connect the recurring sales lines to the customer:

  1. Choose the Setup recurring sales lines action on the Advanced Sales Management FastTab.
  2. On the Recurring Sales Lines page, select BEER-KEG in the Code field and close the page.
