Archived sales documents

Dynamics 365 Business Central offers the possibility to archive sales orders, quotes, return orders, and blanket orders, for example because you want to save a copy of a document for reuse later. You can archive a sales document several times, saving a different archived version each time. For archived documents where the original still exists and is not posted, you can use the Restore function to overwrite the original with the archived version of the document. This is practical if you need to restore the contents of a document to an earlier state. For archived documents where the original document is deleted, you can only reuse the content by copying the data, for example with the Copy from Document function.

Archive document

The Archive document function can be used on the following sales related document types:

  • Blanket sales order
  • Sales quote
  • Sales order
  • Sales return order

When the function is used, the applied sales price and discount that were linked to the original document, are copied to the archived version as well.

Restore from archive

The Restore from Archive function can be used on the following sales related document types:

  • Blanket sales order archive
  • Sales quote archive
  • Sales order archive
  • Sales return order archive

When the function is used, the archived version of (for example the sales order) is restored in the original order if it is not posted or deleted. When the function is used, the applied sales price and discount that were linked to the archived version of the document, are copied to the original document.

You can view the global lot attribute and the location code fields along the lines of the archived sales documents (Blanket Sales Order Archives, Sales Quote Archives, Sales Order Archives, and Sales Order Archives) only if Aptean Advanced Attributes extension is installed and Attribute Driven Pricing toggle on the Sales Price List page is turned on.
