Integration with Aptean Packaging
You can integrate the Aptean Warehouse Management System extension with the Aptean Packaging extension to streamline and automate packaging processes for both inbound and outbound transactions. This integration ensures that accurate packaging records are maintained for all inbound activities while offering flexibility to modify packaging details or enter new packaging type as needed. For outbound transactions, packaging types are added automatically, and you can modify or enter new packaging type as required.
Configuring packaging for warehouse management
To ensure proper handling of packaging in warehouse operations, follow the steps below to set up and manage packaging effectively.
- The Packaging Calculation Method field must be set to On Release. To know more, see Set up packaging.
- Link packaging types to the item number involved in warehouse management activities to effectively manage stock levels and values for packaging materials. To know more, see Packaging types.
- To enable automatic packaging calculations for both inbound and outbound transactions, register the packaging setup for your warehouse location. Select the Inbound Transactions and Outbound Transactions checkboxes on the Register Packaging Setup page.
- On the Location Card page, define a packaging location by entering it in the Packaging Location field associated with the warehouse location.
- Set up default packaging for the item, ensuring that both item-bound and order-bound packaging types are configured. For more information, see Default and mandatory packaging.

The WMS scanner currently shows an empty shipment record on the Shipment screen, even after the record has been posted.
This functionality works similarly,
- When creating a warehouse shipment and pick from a sales order and accessing it in the WMS scanner with packaging items, the Quantity Shipped field on the Sales Order page will be updated after posting.
- When creating transfer orders between warehouse locations, performing the shipment activity with packaging items in the WMS scanner will update the Quantity Shipped field on the Transfer Order page after posting. You can then proceed to create the warehouse receipt and carry out the transfer receipt activity in the WMS scanner as usual.
You cannot use the Add Packaging action during the transfer receipt activity or edit or modify packaging items in the transfer receipt document.
