Set up broken items

To define broken source items for an item, follow these steps:

  1. Open the relevant Item Card page.

  2. On the Replenishment FastTab, in the Broken Item group, enter the required information in the following fields:

    Field Description
    Manufacturing Policy Select how the system must process broken items during manufacturing. The available options are:
    • Blank
    • Manual: You can manually create production orders for the item from a sale order, inventory pick, warehouse pick, or warehouse shipment. The system applies the broken source item information to the released production order components automatically. For more information, see Create production orders from documents manually.
    • Automatic - Sales Order: The system creates a released production order, assigns lots to broken source items, and updates production order components automatically when sales orders are released. For more information, see Manage sales orders.
    • Automatic - Inventory Pick: The system creates a released production order, assigns lots to broken source items, and updates production order components automatically creating inventory picks. For more information, see Manage inventory picks.
    • Automatic - Warehouse Pick: The system creates a released production order, assigns lots to broken source items, and updates production order components automatically when creating warehouse shipments or warehouse picks . For more information, see Manage warehouse shipments or picks.
    Pricing Turn on this toggle if you want the system to automatically calculate the unit price for broken source items in sales orders using the defined alternate costs and pricing calculation formulas if the Aptean Pricing Matrix extension is installed. For more information, see Calculation of unit price for broken source items.
    This toggle is not editable if the Manufacturing Policy field value is set to blank.

    When the Manufacturing Policy field value exists, the system automatically sets the Replenishment System field value to Prod. Order. The Replenishment System field value cannot be changed to any other value.

  3. On the action bar, select Related > Broken Source Items.
    The Broken Source Items page opens.

  4. Select New to add a broken source item and enter the required information in the following fields:

    Field Description
    Sequence No. Enter the sequence of the broken source item.
    Source Item No. Select the broken source item.
    You must select a broken source item that has the Qty. per Unit of Measure field value defined on the Items Units of Measure page for the unit of measure of the item.
    Source Item Variant Select a variant for the source item.
    Source Item Description Specifies the description of the source item selected.
    Qty. In Broken Base UOM Specifies the quantity of the source item in the base unit of measure.

    You can add more broken items to the item as required. The broken items are set up.

You can search for the Broken Source Items page and add broken source items for items directly, provided the item has the necessary setup.
