Mobile Profiles

Mobile Warehouse Registration  •  Article  •  3/19/2025  •  2 min

Mobile profiles represent different groups of warehouse users. For example, perhaps certain employees work exclusively with receiving processes, while others handle nothing but outbound pick documents. In this scenario, separate profiles for receiving and picking employees could be created and assigned to the appropriate users. These groups are set up in the Mobile Profiles page.

Each mobile profile you want to set up is entered as a code and description on a separate line. A mobile profile’s code can be assigned to specific mobile user records. If you are deploying Aptean Mobile Warehouse Registration on an Android device and are working with one or more Mobile Themes, you can assign a theme code to each mobile profile, as well. To configure a mobile theme, see Mobile Themes.

Copying Mobile Profiles

When setting up multiple mobile profiles, it is likely that each profile will share some values and settings. For example, it may be that all mobile profiles share the same language codes.

To expedite the process of profile setup, a copy profile function exists. This feature lets users copy settings from any existing mobile profile to a newly-created one.

It is highly recommended that the copy utility is used to create new mobile profile records. The WMS profile that is included with the Aptean Mobile Warehouse Registration solution’s ‘Create Default Setup’ on the Mobile Setup page, has already been configured to include all necessary settings. Creating new profiles from this record will ensure that all codes and values have been properly assigned prior to editing.

Before copying the settings of an existing profile, you must create the profile record to which they will be applied. This occurs directly on the Mobile Profiles page. With the new profile record selected, select the Copy Setup option to run the copy function.

On the Copy/Merge From Mobile Profile(s) FastTab, you can identify the profile record you wish to copy, then click OK. Any entries in the Mobile Profile Language and Mobile Profile Setup tables that exist for the selected profile will be copied to the new one. Any entries that already exist for the new profile, however, will not be overwritten with the other profile’s data.

Following the copy/merge process, the new mobile profile record can be opened and modified as necessary.
