Business Central Activity I
A separate menu for mobile counting activities can be accessed in Business Central by searching for and selecting Mobile Physical Inventory List.
The functionality in this journal works in the same manner as the standard Business Central page, and journal lines should be calculated prior to mobile processing.
You can create multiple templates with Type as Physical Inventory, while creating item journal templates. In this case, the system prioritizes batches alphabetically based on the physical inventory journal template names. For example, if we had two physical inventory journal templates named INV-PHYS and PHYS-INV, the Aptean Mobile Warehouse Registration Count activity would only process activity in the INV-PHYS journal.
You can assign physical inventory batches to users on the Mobile Physical Inventory List page. You can also create multiple journal batches based on the counting requirements and assign them to different warehouse employees.
To assign a physical inventory journal batch to a user, follow the below procedure:
- Select the Search icon, enter Mobile Physical Inventory List and then choose the related link.
The Mobile Physical Inventory List page opens. - On the action bar, select New.
The system populated a new line. - Select the Type from the drop-down.
- In the Physical Inv. Batch Name field, enter the code for the desired batch.
- In the Assigned User ID field, enter the relevant mobile user’s ID.
The other fields on the page cannot be edited, and provide basic information about the assigned journal batch, such as the date and time of the assignment, the current status of the counting activity, and the number of existing lines within the batch.
In certain scenarios, physical inventories are performed using a blind count method, where the user records the quantities of inventory in a specific location or bin without referencing them to a pre-calculated count sheet. This type of counting can be done in a journal batch by selecting the Blind Count checkbox.
This setting does not fundamentally alter the physical inventory process, but it impacts some of the informational messages displayed to the user in Aptean Mobile Warehouse Registrations. In situations where a blind count is being performed, it is recommended that no lines must be calculated within the journal batch.
When a user launches the Count activity in Aptean Mobile Warehouse Registration, you can view a list of only those physical inventory journal batches that have been assigned to the relevant user ID.
It is also necessary to assign a put-away unit of measure code to every item record that will be included as part of a physical inventory activity.
If you also use the Aptean Food and Beverage License Plating extension, when handling items that are license plate tracked, on the Calculate Inventory page, on the Options FastTab, the By Lot No./License Plate No./Serial No. toggle must be turned on. On completion of the process, on the Physical Inventory Journals page, one line is created for each License Plate No. and Lot No.
Configure application identifier quantity sequence in physical count
The system checks the application identifier quantity sequence defined in the mobile profile setup and uses the first valid application identifier it finds during the physical count process.
To set up the AI quantity sequence in the physical count, follow these steps:
- Open the Mobile Profile Setup page.
- In the Page field, select COUNT.
- In the Description field, select Application Identifier Quantity Sequence.
- In the Value field, enter your preferred sequence of AIs.
The Application Identifier Quantity Sequence description includes the following AIs, separated by a semicolon.- 31
- 32
- 33
- 34
- 37
For example, if you have configured the application identifier quantity sequence as 31;32;33;34;37 on the Mobile Profile Setup page and then parse a barcode with three quantities (31, 33, 34) together on the Mobile Warehouse app, the system considers 31 as the priority quantity.
The system displays an error if you enter an invalid value.
