Use lot elements

Lot elements for vendors, work centers or machine centers are short codes, of up to 4 characters, that specify which work/machine center or vendor is linked to the lot number.

  1. Click the Element field.
  2. Select one of the following options from the dropdown menu:
    • Work-/Machine center Element
    • Vendor Element
  3. When creating the lot number, the element values that are set up on the corresponding Vendor, Machine and/or Work center card are copied to the lot number. See Set up Lot Elements for more information. If the element is not specified on the Vendor, Work- or Machine center card or the lot no is created when no vendor or work-/machine center is available in the source document, then a fall-back value is required. This fall-back value, of up to 4 characters, must be specified in the "Value" field.

Set up fixed values

It is possible to specify a fixed value that should be part of the lot number. As an example, this fixed value can be used to split different lot elements with a punctuation mark, such as - or /.

  1. Click the Element field.
  2. Select the Fixed value option from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click the Value field and enter Value.

A lot no. profile with different lot no. element lines is now set up. The profile can now be selected on an item card, so lot numbers will be generated based on this profile. See the topic Set up Lot No. profile for an Item" for more information.
