Configuring Aptean EDI Using RapidStart
RapidStart Services for Business Central is a tool that is used to configure Business Central functionality quickly and efficiently. Although it is not necessary to utilize RapidStart to set up a new Business Central environment, doing so can reduce setup time and make the overall process easier and more intuitive to the end user.
A RapidStart solution has been developed for the Aptean EDI add-on. This solution is comprised the Aptean EDI Configuration Package, which contains existing Aptean EDI permission sets, as well as the pre-existing EDI port template records that have been developed to work in conjunction with SPS Commerce’s VAN. A new RapidStart package has been developed for ApteanEDI XML Ports and works in conjunction with the ApteanEDI Service.
The Aptean EDI Configuration Package is only necessary for on-premise deployments of Aptean EDI. The data contained within the configuration package is automatically included in SaaS versions of the application. You will require the newly created ApteanEDI RapidStart package if you need to use the ApteanEDI XML Ports.
If you wish to implement Aptean EDI using RapidStart, you must first import and apply the data in the configuration package. You can get the RapidStart configuration package by contacting Aptean Support.
Follow these steps to import and apply configuration package data:
- Select the Search icon
, enter Configuration Packages, and then choose the related list.
The Configuration Packages page opens with the list of existing configuration packages. - On the action bar, select Import Package.
- Select the required Aptean EDI Configuration Package .rapidstart file and click Open.
A new configuration package record is created in Business Central. You can open this record from the Configuration Packages list page to view its contents on the Config. Package Card page.
- On the action bar, select Apply Package. This results in the following:
- New permission sets that have been developed for Aptean EDI are imported into the database.
- The predefined EDI port records that are included with Aptean EDI are imported into the database.
Once these records have been imported, you can now perform the following manual steps:
- Assign the new permission sets to users who will be working with EDI.
- Create EDI ports for specific trading partners by copying the imported records, then making the necessary modifications.
